Windows and Door – IN ~ January 10, 2011

The windows and doors are now in. The doors are beautiful. I’ll never put in a single point catch door again! The windows… i will reserve my opinion until a later date. I have also sealed the cracks with a minimal expanding spray foam. That stuff is STICKY. And i think i made a bigger mess than what i should have. Spraying foam requires a little skill also.. should have known…

Inside ~ January 16, 2011

I am now working on framing the inside perimeter wall. This wall is a 2×4 frame wall, with a 1.5 inch air space off of the ICF. This will allow another 5″ of cellulose, and a very easy electrical and plumbing rough in. Another note: i am covering the ICF with a 4 mil poly.. connected to the 6mil i have under the slab. Air tight is the game. Also – the poplar flooring arrived for the loft.

The Loft Flooring ~ January 28, 2011

Working to install the loft flooring. 1.5″ T&G poplar – kiln dried from Twin Oaks Forestry (local). Beautiful Stuff. I am glueing and nailing it to the 4″x12″ rafters which are on 32″ centers. I need this floor down so I can put some scaffolding up there and put up the ceiling.. so i can insulate the roof… its a vicious cycle!
