Commercial Shop Renovation

We refurbished a 45′ x 75′ Commercial shop into three super efficient 1300 sq ft Apartments.  Each are two bedroom, two bath.  Each with their own washer and condensing dryer.

Our renovation design was basically to build a building inside of the existing building – allowing us to add a super insulated and air sealed layer.

Many passive house techniques were used.  Triple paned windows and insulated fiberglass doors were installed.

The entire building is using less than 28,000 kWh annually (3900 sq ft of conditioned space).  That is less than $100 per month for each apartment.  NO active renewables (solar) yet.

I believe in design based ‘passive’ changes before adding something which costs more money and adds another component to maintain.
