Earth Tubes and Beams ~ October 8, 2010

Here are a few more pics of the tubes. I laid another 28′ yesterday. Word to the wize.. leaving a ditch open is not a good thing. Mine are now small lakes! Uggh. NEXT: some pictures of the logs – before they are made into my loft beams… more on that soon

Inside Wall and Earth Tubes ~ October 11, 2010

Still a little more pipe to run for the earth tubes… but I put down some more this weekend. We went to get the poplar beams for the loft.. they are 4″ x 12″ x 16′. It was a load. Then, I also started the inside wall (for another 5″ of insulation). This will also support the loft.

Raising the Loft ~ October 19, 2010

This past weekend, we put up the loft. 32 beams, 4″x12″… most 16′ long. Plus the supports which were 10″x10″. It was quite a job… Now.. on up with the ICF.

More Earth Tube ~ October 26, 2010

Just finishing the earth tube runs. I had to dig a small pit at the end because I could not get the tubes deep enough, and come out of the ground – so I had to go down a few feet. It’s all in the ground now
